What is CrossFit?

Constantly varied, high intensity, functional movement that increases work capacity over broad time and modal domains.

Translation:

CrossFit is a globally recognized strength and conditioning program proven to deliver incredible results.  Whether you have never exercised before or you are a professional athlete, you can do CrossFit because it is adaptable to all skill levels regardless of age, weight or experience.  CrossFit is a phenomenal fitness program that is sure to transform you body and mind.  Whether your goal is weight loss, muscle gain or increased endurance, you will attain it if you make a commitment to the CrossFit program.  CrossFit incorporates a wide variety of exercises including running, rowing, gymnastics, weight training and Olympic weight lifting techniques.  The daily workouts combine cardiovascular and respiratory endurance based exercises.  The workouts change daily.  The WOD (workout of the day) consists of group training sessions where CrossFit Certified Professional Trainers guide and encourage you from start to finish.  You will be monitored, motivated and encouraged throughout the session.  People of all ages, sizes and experience attend each class.  The exercises are scaled appropriately, regarding load and intensity, for each participant.  The product:  increased stamina, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy.  The program will most certainly challenge you whether you are a seasoned athlete or a beginner.  It is hard, there is no way around it, but if you put in the work, you will reap the rewards!

CrossFit Grit’s Philosophy:

There are other fitness facilities on St. Simons Island.  The difference between CrossFit Grit and other gyms is our commitment to you, the client.  We truly want to see you achieve your fitness goals and take you beyond.  We absolutely delight in seeing our clients grow, progress and succeed.  Unlike other gyms, where after signing up no one even takes notice of you walking in the door or takes accountability for you as their client, at CrossFit Grit we train you every time you show up.  As our member, you will be guided through a warm up, skill and the WOD.  Our only requirement is that you come ready to listen, learn and give 100% effort at each session.  Aside from the work load, as a member of CrossFit Grit you will experience the true meaning of community.  We have a client base like no other – an eclectic mix of athletes of all skill levels striving for a common goal.  The blood, sweat and tears we share makes us a family where all your accomplishments…big or small…are celebrated.

 

How to Get Started:

Attend a class – there’s no commitment and it’s Free.  

  • Choose a class time from the Schedule that works for you.
  • Contact us and let us know would like to come in for your first session.  Please come in about 10 minutes early to fill out a short form.
  • At your first class, your trainer will walk you through the warm up, skill training and the WOD.
  • Come to another (free) class in that same week to get a feel for whether CrossFit Grit is the program for which you have been searching. If it is, we would love to have you as a full time member at CrossFit Grit on St Simons Island.
